Question #39269: Enable Windows Search.

Saturday, 1 August 2009 12:54 by Tom

Initial Problem:

After installing some kind of third party software user is getting the message in Windows Search: "Windows search is not running. To start it, click the Start menu, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Search." Performing these actions doesn't give any results: the message remains.

Description:

Sometimes third party applications disable Windows Search service during installation.

Solution:

To resolve this problem the following services should be started:

  • Indexing Service
  • Windows Search
  • Terminal Services

To start these services you should open Services window and locate necessary services:

1. Go to Start and choose Run.

2. In Run menu type "services.msc" and press Enter. Services Window will appear.
