While working in Windows environment, there are situations when installing software you can get Error 1704. It often happens with the MS Office, .Net Framework, Antivirus etc.  This typically occurs because the previous version was not uninstalled completely prior to installing of newer version. This error message always looks the same, e.g.:

Usually this error blocks you from installing any other executable application using the Windows Installer. This error can be fixed manually using registry editing tool regedit, but there is a small tool - Error 1704 Cleanup Utility 2 - which can remove it after being executed. It clears problem Windows Registry entry: 

If the error is not found in the system registry, then the next message will appear and no changes will be done:

After fixing this error, run the installation process again.
